We all know, that daunting feeling of being both scared and excited at the same time.
Crying your eyes out walking through the dreaded but yet anticipated departure doors.
Most Australians I have met to date, can't relate to us. They are living in the land of opportunity and I mean why would you migrate from a place that has a nice climate, enough jobs, a fair working rate , your friends and most importantly your family? For many Irish , leaving children , wife's, parents , sisters and brothers behind isn't much of a choice. For some people , it is a huge move to make in order to be able to provide for their families. The other half of us, are young and adventurous , wanting to see more , learn more and experience more.

Yet most of you will agree when we get to where ever it is we are going, find our feet making a few work friends and a few drinking buddies. Its like a home from home, minus the mammy's dinner. ;)
But it is , at first a big bad lonely world out there
Why is it that we feel this way? Why is it we strive to stay away and why is it one day we wake up and have decided its time to return?
Although a lot of people leave to go and travel and explore, a huge factor is that for us there is a better standard and quality of living over here as mentioned before. There are jobs here, the pay is good. The food is a rip off and don't even start me on the cost of rent but it is still a lot better than Ireland. I personally think this is what keeps here and gives us the urge to stay on longer. A trip home every twelve to eighteen months and we feel its enough.. After two weeks back in crap weather, with no income reality does again sink in :) :)
Leaving, you have so many plans to do and see so much yet we normally all settle to the first place we land. Its like we get back into a comfort zone and that's where we stay!
All the Irish will be, no doubt in a Irish bar. Socialising mostly with Irish. :)
Constantly hear people speak of how they hate Ireland all that malarkey, yet its a beautiful country that we seem to only appreciate when we are away , missing it and looking at it from a different perspective. When People talk to us about Ireland , we sure as hell are proud to be Irish. Always having the banter , always finding some one who knows your mams, uncles, cousins, sisters, best friend :) We are world know for having our out going personalities, hard working ethics and the craic that we can have while getting intoxicated. Lets not lie guys, we are fond of the drink ;) On a daily basis people slobber over the Irish accent , they don't understand me but the love listening to my voice. I think we all hate this 'diddly dee potatoes' phrase? ''thirty three and a third''? or "top of the mornin' to ya'' I would like to make it clear,
WE DONT EVER USE THESE IN OUR VOCABULARY UNLES ITS TO SHUT SOME IDIOT UP.
Also, calling St. Patricks Day, ''Patty's Day'' or ''Pats'' is slightly insulting to our cultural heritage. ;)
As a Irish person reading this, you know that there is some one you can say you left a huge impression on :) As that person that the huge impression was left on , you can giggle and think of that Irish bloke or lass that has made an impact on you!! You better appreciate how lucky you are to have had this impact made on you too ;)
But what do others think of us? are we leaving a bad impression on our selves by arriving , well every where now and marking our territory? Are we being stereotyped from the people who came here in the past and didn't show respect? Are we frowned upon because we are taking all the jobs?
What does the world actually think of the huge Irish Migration boom? I would love to get YOUR feed back on what you think of us :)
This is a video , that is a must watch for all you people out there!!
Its just one of them ''it does exactly what it says on the tin'' moment!!
That is the reason we are proud to be Irish. St Patricks Day is the biggest world celebration. Celebrated in every corner of the globe by both Irish Nationals and people haven't got as much as an Irish connect. For a small nation , we are not doing to bad. :)
Ireland really does inspire......
Have I inspired you today ;)
